Sometimes I feel a little awkward talking about Voices on this forum, but then I think "we are all in this ongoing battle together" and please don't get me wrong, I am not advocating Voices or Male Survivor or anything close to that. Each organization has its place and I think each organization has so much to offer.

Anyway, I write a regular column in the Voices newsletter because I enjoy doing this and if I can help encourage anyone, I feel it is worth it. Plus sometimes it is a way for me to put my thoughts together and help heal myself in ways that I could not have imagined.

I have finally posted all of the articles I have written on my web site and if you would like to take a look at them, feel free to do so. No pressure - just putting it out there.

If you go to https://www.breakingthesilence.net/donsplace . You will see a link that says "writings" and then you will see one that says "Voices Articles" . Some of these articles are very encouraging to common things we all face in our daily lives of healing from sexual abuse. They are written from my heart and my experiences during those periods of time as well.

I hope you enjoy reading them and feel free to always drop me a note if something touched you deeply.

Again, please don't think I am advocating one organization over another because that is not the case. Male Survivor is a very good organization and they have come a long long ways in a very short time.

Hi Don:
As a long time member of VOICES, I am glad to hear you mention this fine organization in MaleSurvivor. I don't think we compete, but in a way compliment each other with a different audience. I think you have written some fine pieces to help explain the male experience for female survivors.

So, I would certainly recommend our readers to look at your work and encourage cross fertilization of ideas and energy with the two organizations.

Hi Don,
Thanks for the link to your site. I will take time to read what you have written. It is always good to break the silence.

I don't know anything about VOICES. I will look it up.

Bob

Thanks Ken and Bob,

Voices stands for Victims of Incest Can Emerge Surviviors. For me it is one of the first organizations I had or that I found. It made such an impact on my life in so many ways. When I first started in it, there were hardly any guys there and now at the yearly conferences there are many more guys. They have gone through some rough times (probably much like male survivor) in donations and funding but they are starting to get things turned around for them. I know Voices has been around for over 20 years and is an organization that was started and is still run by survivors. I agree with Ken that I think the two complement each other in many ways.

These articles that I wrote were not easy at the start. For I was scared to write my thoughts down and share them with the world. It was very scary for me and it was a major step in my healing as well. Now I look forward to sharing what I am learning or experiencing and it does not have the fear it once did.

Don,

You always inspire me with your posts & your music. I look forward to reading your articles when I get the chance. Thanks.

Victor,
I appreciate your words so much. I'm actually trying to update my book of writings, poetry etc so I can offer it as a "silent auction item" at the next conference. I'm going to print and bind them at work so it won't cost me anything for it. (or at least I hope I can do this). I've only shared the book at one local survivor event here in South Florida so it will be interesting to see how it does when it goes beyond my reach.

Thanks again for your support.
