I want to start off by thanking everyone on the discussion board for all their posts. I have been on the board for the past 4 months reading the various posts from the past and the present. They all have been very very helpful. The best things about the posts are all the wisdom they impart. I realize that I also have many of the same issues as everyone else, it saddens me, but Im not alone.

Please let me introduce myself, I am 44 and a computer programmer in GIS software and as you can tell Im Canadian. The first abuse took place when I was 8 years and lasted until I was 13. I did not know what impact this had on me. At 28 I entered hospital with an eating disorder and dying. It took many years to get over the eating disorder, but I did. I was recently attack at work by a male co-worker and I entered back into PTSD. Im working on my issues today and thank you all for your posts and your help; you are a great bunch of people.

GWN,

I wish you did need to be here, but I am glad you found us and I want to offer you a warm welcome.

As you already know, these are a fine bunch of guys. They have helped me through a lot and I'm sure they will again.

Take what you can and leave the rest. But you are not alone anymore. We are here for each other.

If you need to talk, put it here. Or if you don't want to do it publicly, PM me. I can always listen!

Peace,

Marc

GWN,
It is terrible thing that you had to come here.
I am sorry that you had such troubles again after so many years.

Good thing is that we have this site. People on it are the best of the best.

Welcome to MS, I hope you find us caring and sharing here, I'm sure you will.

One resource that I've used many times before, and I'd recommend this to ALL Survivors and Partners - and professionals who are caring for us - is the Canadian National Clearing House on Family Violence.

There is a huge and very informative section on sexual abuase with many downloadable self help leaflets.
There's also a list of contacts and organizations for those living in the frozen north ;)

Look for "Publications" on the left side of the page then Click on "Child abuse"

GWN,

Welcome to Male Survivor. If you've been reading the posts on the discussion board here, then you are already aware of the fine bunch of guys that come here. We all have issues, but I believe that together we will overcome them. It's great to know that we don't have to be alone to deal with our sexual abuse.

GWN - you've found the right place. I have found major healing since first coming here (nearly 11 months now). In that time I have changed from a total wreck, to someone that could actually approach the police, write & sign a 15 page statement about my abuser (17/1004)& got him arrested (35 years after the event).

We have to work very hard at the healing process, but now you are here, you have started that process - I wish you rapid progress.

Best wishes ....Rik
