My dog mario 1993-2004
Keith - cry for Mario as much as you want - you had a good friend there!
I still remember 'MY DOG' Rusty... he was never my older brother or sister's dog because I was there when he first came to the house and they were both at school.... I claimed him from day one.
We used to lie in front of the coal fire together & I would use him as a pillow. He used to run in circles chasing his tail. He would growl at anyone that moved too quickly in my direction (parents, brother, sister). He once pulled me down the street as we were returning home (my brother was shouting to us from the front door & Rusty new food was ready) & took all the skin off my knees...I forgave him. He wouldn't eat dog food & used to have Sunday Dinner with the rest of us...Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding & all the trimmings.
When I was 19, I came back from a Rock Festival to find that his heart had given out & he wasn't there any more....it's the only time I felt any real emotion between then & now.
I'm having a glass of wine now, I'll toast both Mario & Rusty!
Best wishes ...Rik
