My best friend passed away

I just got word that my best friend has passed away. We'd been besties since first grade (he lived a little ways down my street). He and I had many adventures, played in bands together... just all the sort of things that make a friendship great. It was just a few weeks ago that I learned he had cancer. In fact I saw him last Saturday at out local tavern and we shared some old stories and enjoyed just hanging out for a few hours. This is gonna hurt... I'm kinda numb at the moment.

I am so sorry for your loss! I also have a best friend since 1st grade who live in Palm Springs and was recently diagnosed with cancer. I did travel out there in February and he came home in June. I feel for you!! Cancer Sucks!!

Silly, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is from personal experience, but I am glad you had some time with him when you did. A friend like that touches our lives in ways we never forget- JC1
I just remembered some of the words from a song in the musical, "Wicked" that someone gave to me in my time of loss. I just liked the message:

"It well may be that we will never meet again In this lifetime,
So let me say before we part, so much of me is made of what I learned from you.
You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart.
And now whatever way our stories end, I know you have re-written mine by being my friend."

I'm very sorry to learn this. I remember that he had gotten a bad diagnosis recently, but I had no idea there was such little time left. It's good that you were able to spend time with him just last weekend.
