Music. What are your songs? (recovery, depression, happiness, anything)

Music. What are your songs? (recovery, depression, happiness, anything)
And another very powerful one for me

An Innocent Man
Billy Joel

Some people stay far away from the door
If there's a chance of it opening up
They hear a voice in the hall outside
And hope that it just passes by
Some people live with the fear of a touch
And the anger of having been a fool
They will not listen to anyone
So nobody tells them a lie
I know you're only protecting yourself
I know you're thinking of somebody else
Someone who hurt you
But I'm not above
Making up for the love
You've been denying you could ever feel
I'm not above doing anything
To restore your faith if I can
Some people see through the eyes of the old
Before they ever get a look at the young
I'm only willing to hear you cry
Because I am an innocent man
I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
Some people say they will never believe
Another promise they hear in the dark
Because they only remember too well
They heard somebody tell them before
Some people sleep all alone every night
Instead of taking a lover to bed
Some people find that it's easier to hate
Than to wait anymore
I know you don't want to hear what I say
I know you're gonna keep turning away
But I've been there and if I can survive
I can keep you alive
I'm not above going through it again
I've not above being cool for a while
If you're cruel to me I'll understand
Some people run from a possible fight
Some people figure they can never win
And although this is a fight I can lose
The accused is an innocent man
I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
An innocent man
You know you only hurt yourself out of spite
I guess you'd rather be a martyr tonight
That's your decision
But I'm not below
Anybody I know
If there's a chance of resurrecting a love
I'm not above going back to the start
To find out where the heartache began
Some people hope for a miracle cure
Some people just accept the world as it is
But I'm not willing to lay down and die
Because I am an innocent man
I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
An innocent man

When I need to remind myself that I can recover, that I can write my story, find my voice. "We're not going to sit in silence. we're not going to live in fear".

You're the Voice
John Farnham

We have the chance to turn the pages over
We can write what we want to write
We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older
We're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa
This time, we know we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing we can make it better
Ooh, we're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa
Ooh, we're all someone's daughter
We're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa
You're the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh, whoa
We're not gonna sit in silence
We're not gonna live with fear
Oh, whoa

I am born to be free ... I no longer have to run

Born To Be Free
Moriah Peters

Come, what you running away from?
Come, there's only liberty here
Now open arms surround you
Now love will conquer your fear
Look up, let go the pain that you've seen
You've been who you are
Not who you could be
Lift up open hands
Reach out where you stand
Wherever you are know that you are
Born to be free
One man sacrifice
One death for all life
Don't forget it
You're forgiven
Born to be free
Bring every imperfection
Bring every hurt you hide
Look up, let go, leave it behind
Healing is here now
There's no need to fight
Lift up open hands
Reach out where you stand
Wherever you are know that you are
Born to be free
One man sacrifice
One death for all life
Don't forget it
You're forgiven
Born to be free
Come, what you running away from?
Come, there's only liberty here
Lift up open hands
Reach out where you stand
Wherever you are, know that you are
Born to be free
One-man sacrifice
One death for all life
Don't forget it
You're forgiven
Born to be free
Lift up open hands
Reach out where you stand
Wherever you are know that you are
Born to be free
One-man sacrifice
One death for all life
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
We're born to be free

I often feel that this is my song. There is something about it that gives me strength.

edit: at the same time this is also my song

I know this is opera but it is so incredible....

translation is:

Lascia la spina, cogli la rosa;
tu vai cercando il tuo dolor.

Canuta brina per mano ascosa,
giungerà quando nol crede il cuor.

Leave the thorn, take the rose;
you go searching for your pain.

Gray frost by hidden hand
will come when you heart doesn't expect.

In seeking love we inadvertently seek our own pain. The poet uses the image of a hand searching for a rose, but unexpectedly encountering pain. (In Italian the word for pain and sorrow are the same.) And he uses the image of a hidden hand bringing the gray frost of age when again we don't expect

I am listening to this as I am not feeling very good today

and this is just special......

Tu del ciel ministro eletto, You, the chosen minister of Heaven, non vedrai piu nel mio petto, shall see no more in my breast voglia infida o vanno ardor. an unfaithful wish or vain desire. E se vissi ingrato a Dio, And though I live ungrateful to God, tu custode del cor mio, may you, guardian of my soul, a lui porti il nuovo cor. bring to him a renewed heart.

I've found that lyrics bother me.

Other peoples words can ruin a melody for me.

I love soundtracks and listen to them frequently.

The Tenet soundtrack is my go to right now, because its just new experimental. Ludwig Goransson is an amazing composer.

Something Inside So Strong. By Labi Siffre

This just came up on my Spotify and I felt like I could really relate to the Lyrics.

Lyrics
I'm running low on serotonin
Chemical imbalance got me twisting things
Stabilize with medicine
There's no depth to these feelings
Dig deep, can't hide
From the corners of my mind
I'm terrified of what's inside
I get
Intrusive thoughts like cutting my hands off
Like jumping in front of a bus
Like how do I make this stop
When it feels like my therapist hates me
Please don't let me go crazy
Put me in a field with daisies
Might not work but I'll take a maybe
Oh, been breaking daily
But only me can save me
So I'm capitulating
Crying like a fucking baby
I'm running low on serotonin
Chemical imbalance got me twisting things
Stabilize with medicine
But there's no depth to these feelings
Dig deep, can't hide
From the corners of my mind
I'm terrified of what's inside
I get
Intrusive thoughts
Like burning my hair off
Like hurting somebody I love
Like does it ever really stop?
When there's control I lose it
Incredibly impulsive
So scared I'm gonna end up doing something stupid
But I try to contain it
Oh, It gets so draining
It's like my heart is failing
Every night I'm contemplating
My inner voices saying, "tough"
So I try to brush it off
Yeah, try to brush it off
I'm running low on serotonin
Chemical imbalance got me twisting things
Stabilize with medicine
But there's no depth to these feelings
Dig deep, can't hide
From the corners of my mind
I'm terrified of what's inside

My signature contains a lyric from Nick Drake's Way to Blue. Listen to it and see if it holds any meaning. When it hits you, you'll know.

This is a man asking the child he was to share the secrets he keeps. It is a tragic story of what those secrets to do us - how keeping secrets as a child leaves the adult so hopelessly adrift and cut off from himself. That is perhaps one interpretation - but it's mine. It spoke right to me. Nick Drake wrote and recorded this in the early 1970's. He died shortly afterwards - in his twenties - of an overdose with suspected suicidal intent.
