Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Monday is Memorial day in the US. It is the day we honor our fallen heros and the heros who are still with us.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of the vets in all countries around the world.

My dad and I go to the national cemetary for a service every year. I go with him because he is a vet and I am proud of him.

When the band plays the various songs for each branch of the service and the army one comes a long and I look over at him, he stands at attention, and i get goose bumps. Very fond memories I will never forget. Just me and dad, no other siblings. So Cool.

One sad memorie for me. When I was in grade school I had a friend named "Ricky", we did a mural together that year and it still hangs in the cafeteria at the school.

Ricky drowned on this weekend back in 1969 in a river several hours drive from the area. Another sad thing was that his father died at the same time trying to save him.

So sad. :( :( I miss u Ricky. Thinking about u bro.

I'd also like to take a moment to acknowledge all the girls and women and boys and men who were abused but didn't survive. Too often children are sexually abused and then have their lives taken by their abusers. Others stay silent until the pain gets to be too much and then take their own lives. Some succumb to drug or alcohol abuse.

And for all of us who lost our innocence and childhood. Today is a time to take a moment and grieve for those olsses as well. But only a moment because today is also a day to be with family, enjoy the weather, the first days of summer, barbeques and picnics. Peace - John
