May The Fourth Be With You

May The Fourth Be With You
It happens every year about this time. May 4 is one of my favorite days because I can say (with a straight face) "May the Fourth Be With You.:)

My kids and I grew up with everything Star Wars. It was sort of what Grand Theft Auto is today.

I love it! Its a fun day for me too. I love most things Star Wars. Movies, TV, music, and some video games. May the fourth be with you!

"Punch it Chewie!"
"RAWRRRRGGH!"

Thanks for this happy, uplifting post! I can still remember being awestruck at the opening scenes and the expression on my kids faces! What a wonderful thought and of course "May the Fourth Be With You" all as well! Love This!!

I’m watching Andor with my son the past couple weeks as season two rolls out. It’s restorative in a way because it’s such a good series, deals with complex stuff, and grounds the world in real, human experiences.

I posted something in the forums last night that referenced ESB without even realizing what today was.

May the fourth be with you.

I'm going to be the odd one here
may the firth be with y'all
Imperialists, rebels, trekkies…we’re all welcome here. 👍

But is “firth” a specific Star Trek reference or a misspelling? 🧐 I grew up on Star Trek too. Watched every episode of the original series in reruns. ST2-WoK was one of the first films I remember seeing. (I still have bad dreams about worms in my ear…poor Chekhov!) I loved Deanna Troi (crush), Worf (always seems to be thinking “Hrrmph”), and Q (I think he defines chaotic neutral) from TNG.

But I’m a little thin on later references….For example, I once went on a date with a girl in college and made fun of my roommate for having a Starfleet Command diploma framed on his wall. She never talked to me again—later I realized she wore a custom Bajoran earring set (Something from DS9??—it was the 90s). Whoops!!
A misspelling

I'm not certain if I've posted much about this, but STAR WARS basically saved me. When I was 10 years old, I saw the movie on May 25, 1977... opening day. I had the movie tie-in book, the comic books... all of it. When things got really bad (abuse-wise) I could slip out of myself and into that galaxy far far away. Dissociation is a powerful survival tool.

I remember when Star Wars came out in 1977. One of my friends and I went to see it at a late night showing. I was in CA so it did not start showing there until the latter part of June- when apricots are ripe. At the time I was a seasonal cannery worker. I got home at around 2 in the morning and there was a note stating that Libby's cannery had called and that I had to report to work a few hours later that morning- (apricot season). I enjoyed the movie, but I was tired- we worked 11 hour shifts.
