I have just sat at my PC and written 4 personal letters of thanks!

One to each of the 3 friends that wrote supportive statements for me, and were also ready to back those statements up in court.

The fourth one was to the Policeman that first realised I needed to speak about something! He took my statement and set the justice system in motion.

Neither my friends, nor the policeman will be expecting this - they all just think they did what they had to!

The letters are all personalised - at the bottom of each letter, I have inserted a picture of myself at 12 years old. Next to the picture, I have written: 'Thanks from the kid' and my catch phrase: 'I get knocked down - I get up again'

I have also bought each a set of 2006, British uncirculated coins. I chose these, because they include a new 50p coin celebrating the 150th Anniversary of The Victoria Cross - awarded for Valour in this country. They showed valour in supporting me.

As I was typing the letters, the tears came...writing everything down again, just gave so much meaning to my recent journey!

I think I'm actually starting to feel happy now!

I'm off to push the letters through their letterboxes now, knowing that they are all at work (I'm there later)!

Although I could only send 4 letters of thanks, I include you all in that!

A VERY BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE HERE!

Best wishes ...Rik

Congratulations Rick, you made the world a better place. You probably made more people's lives better than some leaders of countries have. Think of all the pain and turmoil that was spared of some future victims. This wasn't easy for you either, we all know that.

I salute you!!!

Rik,Thank you for this. You never gave up. As we all share in each other's pain, you have allowed us to be with you and share in this victory. I think we each share your gratitude for such friends. We're glad you had them with you, and your gratitude for them helps remind us not to take ours for granted. Thank you. Bobby

Take him out for an icecream, and maybe a frolic in a park. I'd give him a big hug if I could.

Lots of love,

The kid in me had to go to work unfortunately! I did get to 'play' on a computer though!

What I have realised though, is that he always liked hot wheels cars! Remember I took one called The Judge to court!

What I have decided to do in his honour is start a Christmas (sorry I know it's only March) collection.

Around the area where I live, The Salvation Army and Social Services always require presents for under-privileged kids. I usually buy one good present each year!

Yesterday, I bought a multi-pack of 5 Hot Wheels cars and 2 Basic My Little Ponies (they were buy one get one free).

I intend to stop buying so many daft magazines, and buy one or two of these small presents each month. I should have quite a few presents by the end of the year!

The thought of children playing with them will obviously make me feel good at Christmas!

Best wishes ....Rik

That's such a great idea. Imagine if more of us did that!

It has been a privilege to follow you on this epic journey my friend. I know that cannot have been easy, but you did it. Witnessing a brother fighting as you have done has been uplifting and inspiring for us all.

Much love,
Larry
