I've read some of the threads about the new way we can post. There is a privite board (which I understand would have a stronger filtering of members, as to stop the cyber terriost that we have had) and the public one which is just like we are use to. Now I went to look at the membership dues and they range from $35.00 to $120.00. And that just doesnt seem like a lot of money for the help that a lot of people say that this sie has given them. And for the montor's of this board please corect me if Im wrong, will not membership dues be waved if you are willing to volenter to montor a board (and if that is true there are 5 boards that need montor's on them) or join a commitee. So for those of you that seem to have a problem with the montors, maybe you should become one. The ones that have a prblem with paying $35.00 (I didnt see anywere they aksed for a check stub, or a copy of your tax forms) then become a montor of one of the boards...........if your not willing to step up then your just like the folks that dont vote in the elections....do you realy have a reason to complain. Im sorry if this upsets anyone, and if this post if found offencive the I would hope the monators will pull it....thats there job........thats just my two cent on the matter........and on a side not......I wish to think...Lloydy,SoCalJohn,TheDean, MichaelJoseph.....they have a thankless job, so I want to say ty for doing your best to keep us safe in our safe place. Well thats all for now

pont of information:

James is correct that our monitors are volunteers and have the option of doing monitoring for their sweat equity contribution to MS/NOMSV. We thank them all for the hours they put in. But monitors must be approved by the web master for a number of reasons that should be pretty obvious.

However, as James also says, there are a lot of committees and lots of work that the organization needs done, and these are other sweat equity options.

I was rather naive when I started to participate in this forum. I felt that most of the guys here would be well along in their recovery, holding good jobs and doing pretty well considering what they had gone through.

Now, after looking at many posts and messaging various members I am aware that many of the men who use this forum are down right poor. Some mention not being able to afford therapy, even on a slideing scale. Some mention that they no longer can afford their medications. Some have been unemployed long enough that they have lost their benefits. Some few, seem to be so damaged that they can barely function independently. A least one user is not independent, is in fact homeless.

I do not write this in regards to paying for memberships or not. I just point out that some of our brothers are in a really bad place. What we can do about it I do not know. I was told last night that in some places the waiting list to get therapy at a school with a supervised student is months long.

MS can't become a social service agency. But what we have to give is very valuable. I am amazed at how different I am today after just a few months here. This was what I needed and had been looking for for a very long time. I don't even remember how I found us. But I am happy that I did.

What we can give is acceptance and understanding. We can validate our brothers realities by sharing our own, and for some members, we may be the only support they have. We also do a fair and sensitive job of challenging.

So, I suggest we individaully committ ourselves to doing as much as we can, when we can, and take all we need, when we are in need.

Peace to you brothers. You are great guys.

Bob ;)

I have gotten a great deal out of being here as a paid member and as a non paid one. It doesn't matter, as I do encourage those to join 35.00 is the low end of the scale. That is about 3.00 a month, as for being a survivor, it is better than being stuck in the victim mode. Survivor has strength in it, the courage to keep moving forward. This is a place for growth and we make the growth happen. Let us work together to make this place a safe healthy place to be. Dues or not. Survivor or Thriver. We all need support at one time or another.
