Job Interview Question TRIGGERS
Job Interview Question TRIGGERS
Before I started dealing with my SA issues I had a great job making 26 dollars an hour working 3 12-hour days a week. My wife was making 13 an hour and things where super financially. Since the Boston SA shit hit the front pages in 2002 and I was forced to deal with this my life has gone down hill fast.
That great job ended when the company went bankrupt. I got a job making 14 an hour working 4 10-hour days. Things where ok but once I came out and started Therapy I had a super hard time being at work. We printed books for ST Marys Press which is a catholic publisher. I got laid off and was unemployed a year.
Then I got a good job where I learned a whole lot but only made 10 an hour. That lasted 8 months before I was laid off again. Now I am trying to get any kind of job but no one wants to hire a 56 year old man.
Today I went to an open interview at the HY VEE grocery store. I field out the application and waited for my interview. After 45 minutes I got called into the room. They had all these questions on a sheet and would ask them, then write down your response. Had a great interview going until that question was asked of me.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your life and how did you over come it?
Man I just started tripping flashing back at the abuse. I didnt know what to say? No way was I going to tell him about my abuse? NO WAY. I knew that I couldnt make up anything but I couldnt tell him the whole true either. The job only paid 8 an hour and I felt like getting up and walking out.
After some time I replayed.
Being a victim of childhood trauma and having to deal with the effect of that in my audit life. I overcame the trauma by being open and honest and seeking professional help.
I may have reviewed too much. At lease I didnt run away like I wanted to.
