Hello to my dear male survivors. As you know I went through a very difficult period with my son when he needed some space from me. I know this will be an up and down journey but I am happy we are communicating now. I give him his needed space and wait for him to initiate contact (90% of the time) My son is now re-locating for his PHD and this is a very stressful time for him. He is dealing with fear and self-doubt but I continue to encourage him as he is multi-talented. I just wanted to check in and let you know that without you this journey for me would have been completely debilitating. Thank you so much.

Thank you for being appreciative !
It's wonderful to see a parent(s) being supportive.
I didn't get this.
I have a low self-esteem.
So , I can say your son needs encouragement from you.
Right on jewelgirl50.
Be kind to yourself.

James

Glad we were able to help.
As I said in the previous topic I definitely appreciate the problems of taking a phd and indeed I'm moving myself at the end of this month which my wife isn't looking forward to.

one of the problems of recovery I have definitely experienced myself is that can itself be triggering and fairly hard to handle, which doesn't always make people easy to be around.

Hopefully you'll continue to find moments of calm along the way and your sons situation will settle down soon once he gets started.

Luke.

So glad to know this. You have been part of a miracle. It isn't often that the family, at least you anyway, get on board with a survivor's recovery. Glad we were able to assist.
It's sort of how my therapist has told me, we've been given a dark gift. One that we surely would never have asked for, yet now that we are dealing with the fallout of it all, we can assist others in similar circumstances. Good to know we have those like you, jewelgirl, to come alongside. Just like the 'band of brothers' here.
