I've been away for a while
Hi all my old friends and my new ones. I've been away for a little while. Things have been a total nightmare at work. I have been putting in 12 to 14 hour days 6 1/2 days a week at work and that hasn't given me much time to keep up with things in here.
My attorney did finally get a letter off to the church. I think that we are settleing for way to little but if the church would agree to everything that we have asked for in the letter I could live with it. Also, I know that going through a long court battle would be emotionally draining on me.
I do however think that things are going to end up in court. We received a letter from the Presbyterary (could be compared to the governor of the state) The Local church has taken the stance that this is a matter for the local curch to handle. I feel that it is a matter that needs to be assdressed by the local, district, and National church.
Here is the letter:
I am not going to sit quietly by and let the church try to silence me any more. I attended the retreat in April at Pilgrim Park and I learned that I have a voice that cannot be silenced.
I am no longer going to be quiet about what the Presbyterian Church has done to me. They are as guility as the Catholics in trying to cover up what ministers have done. This covering up needs to stop.

The "pastoral Support" of the local church has been to tell me that this is my problem .... deal with it, and the threat of a slander lawsuit if I go public with my charges.Presbytery of Wyoming__________________________________________

MY ATTORNEY
RE: Mr. John ME
Dear MY ATTORNEY:
We received March 26, 2003, a correspondence dated March 20, 2003, from XXXXXXXXX, Associate General Counsel Of Legal and Risk Management Services of the General Assembly Council regarding allegations of sexual misconduct made by ME against Dr. Joseph Laughlin, who is deceased.
We affirm the actions taken by the session of the First Presbyterian Church of Cheyenne and its pastor, XXXXXXXXXXXXX, as in keeping with proper process in such a case, and in keeping with appropriate pastoral care and concern as sought by ME. Legal counsel from the denomination in the early stage of the process confirmed that the matter is one focused properly between ME and the local church. Reverend XXXXXXX has both offered and provided pastoral care and provided the proper channels for ME to pursue. The Presbytery of Wyoming understands the proper course for ME is to bring his complaint and requests to the Session through the Clerk of the Session as outlined in the Book of Order G10.0102 where the responsibilities of the Session are defined.
This is a matter of pastoral concern for the First Presbyterian Church of Cheyenne and its Session. The proper place for addressing MY request lies, therefore, in the local church, and we will offer our assistance to the Church of Cheyenne in evaluating MY allegations as well as cooperating with the Church in its efforts to resolve this matter.
Sincerely,
Stated Clerk
General Presbyter
