It's not about sexual abuse............

This book isnt about sexual abuse but it is about abuse all the same...... "A child Called It.". There are three books to this, "A Child Called It."; "Lost Boy"; "Man named Pete". I tried, I mean tried to read the first one and couldnt get through half of it. It was just to powerful, to much for me at the time. So it's on my list of books to read next year, I hope to be in a better place to take the emotions in the book. Read it if you can, and someone let me know if it is as good as it seemed.....

Hi James,

I have read the 3 books (the 3rd one is actually called A Man Named Dave).

Like you, the first one was extremely difficult to get through. I often had to stop for awhile and I have not been abused. But, I did get through it and the other two. They become easier to read after the first one but still distressing. I feel honoured to have read them.

The author, Dave Pelzer went on to great things and if you can get through that first one I would strongly recommend you keep reading the series. As it says on the cover "A story of Triumph and Forgiveness".

Thanks for your reply. I tried to read it realy did, right now Im just not in a place emotionaly that I can get through the first one. One day I WILL finish it. I saw him on Oprah talking about the book and what he went through, and was amazed that someone that went through what he did was able to even stand let alone live a healthy life like he has. It gives me hope for my own recovery. Just right now no way...to much emotion in it. But I will read it

Hi.

I have just started 'A Child Called It'. I'm finding it bloody hard going. Trying to read through the tears. There are two further books in the series. I have just bought them for my niece, (she wanted them for xmas). I just glanced over the covers, I think they are self help books.
