why is a parents 'image' need so great - that to have your own 'image' is to betray them - with the worst possible consequences?

to have your wants beyond their own causes a similar wrath?

how miserable for these people -

Mark the only image that is important to you is your own self image.
That is all we expect from you. And that is what makes us all so special to each other.

Our uniqueness and who we really are.
 
When our parents need us to be something--anything at all--it is a betrayal of their unconditional love. And we must betray them in turn to become who we really are.
