"Getting Through The Day"
Building Bridges-4th chapter:
I hope some others can relate to this as I can.At times no amount of adult understanding can keep you from being triggered, because you haven't yet completed the healing process around a traumatic childhood experience. It's helpful to acknowledge that this is a normal part of moving through healing. It's not the end of the world. It doesn't mean you've failed. It just means that the feelings coming up are still held in a pocket of time that hasn't fully been brought into your current psychological timeframe. With practice, things WILL change and you will have a much greater ability to use these moments to increase your sense of competence, safety, and mastery in the present.
