My crummy dial-up connection has got so slow that a reply to RJD's post just took nearly six minutes to download.

PM's and emails aren't working, it just times out.

So please bear with me until I can find a solution.
Ideally a Broadband connection is what I want, but our local exchange has been recently updated, without broadband, and the telephone company say they aren't prepared to update it again in the foreseeable future.
And we don't get cable here either.

Dave

Gotta love the dial-up huh? I just got cable instead, so now mine is working. But since you don't have cable where you are, if you have a satalite like Direct-TV, some satalite companies offer broadband connection through the sattalite system, something you may want to look into.

Peace,
Fly

Sorry of your connection troubles. I sometime have that, but not so bad. And yes, I have dial up access. Good luck at you.

I don't know where the problem lies now.

I've just been on some of the other sites I use and I can jump between forums, topics and post all at my usual speed.

But not here, it's painfully slow and PM's just don't seem to go anywhere. I get no message that they've been sent. But Bob got last nights PM five times !

I've done all the usual stuff of clearing the cache, cookies and even defragging, but it's the same.

Any suggestions, and is anyone else having problems ?

Dave

I'm using AOL as well, and I am having the exact problems you describe of not flicking between posts and forums etc at the 'usual' speed.
Other web forums are ok though, which is the mystery ?

Although it's getting better as the evenening goes on.

I want a steam driven computer !

Dave

Dave when you sign on make sure that your speed is at least 42000-48000 . Sometime AOL will divide the line and you only operate at 24000, So if you get the slow speed just close out and resign in until you get 42-48000 , I got in the habit on checking every time I sign on. You may have to sign on and off a few time to get the 48000 speed. best of luck. Tom
