If you were abused by an adolescent

If you were abused by an adolescent
Ken,

I would say that as corny as it might seem, to borrow a line from Terminator 2: Judgement Day (I think this is also a great way to connect with a fifteen year old.)

The future's not set. There's no fate but what we make for ourselves.
I could have continued the cycle endlessly... but I didn't. And now that I've decided to acknowledge the abuse in my life DID occur, to take responsibility for MY own healing I truly believe that eventually, I WILL not only survive, but PROSPER as well. I know it will not happen in my case overnight as I built year upon year of misdirected thought and feeling. (Any youth starting to reflect on the abuse either as victim or perp at this stage, can only be AHEAD of the game).

In my case again, I know what I want now. And that is only to love and be loved.

No one is ever a slave to the abuse forever and you don't have to die to get past it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Marc, and all the others who contributed to the speech. (I wish I had Marc's last comment to add, but I was gone by the time it came.)

The speech was well received, lots of positive comments on the evaluations I saw. I will post the entire speech some place on the website Wed. after I can pull it off the disk and get it to Fred, the webmaster.

It was emotional and I thank all of you who contributed to getting the message out there.

Ken
