I saw my brother today

I was grocery shopping at Kroger this afternoon when I glanced down towards the end of the aisle and saw a woman at the end for a split second looking down the aisle like she was looking for something. For the half-second I saw her, I thought she looked like my sister-in-law. When I rounded the end of the aisle, I looked down the next one and saw my brother and she walking down the aisle. I'm not sure if she recognized me when she was looking down the aisle or not, and my brother had his back to me when I saw him.

This was my oldest brother (not the one who sexually abused me). I haven't seen this one in about 3 years, although we live in the same town. Was odd seeing him again, even if from behind and only for a moment. He's the one who knew what my other brother was doing to me, but didn't do anything to stop it. I had a lot of mixed feelings.

Part of me wanted to find him in the store and ask him a bunch of questions. My therapist has been suggesting that I start thinking about a meeting with him to talk about the physical abuse we all endured by my father. Another part of me just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could.

I hear your pain on this one Egl,

I have one brother - 16 months older than me. He knows of the physical and mental abuse by my mother (he was abused to a lesser degree himself by mom). I have tried to talk with him some about it over the course of the last 3 years. Basicaly he refuses to even admit that the first 18 years of his life ever even happened (his method of copeing I guess)

If you do chose to talk with your brother about the past I hope that he will be open to giveing you the honest answers that you are looking for...

Take care,

TJ jeff

You might consider using some of the dream manipulation methods to talk to your brother. It could be more productive and less hurtful than personal confrontation.
