I love painting
Hello all
Im a survivor getting my life back together and I enjoy painting , I live quiet solitary life now . have social phobias and have mental illness and a severe stammer,
Does anyone else paint and what have the benefits been to your well being , I use acrylic which I find good to work with , I use a grid system to copy other paintings by famous artist and ive produced some nice works , I donate my works to charity which some have been auctioned off and sent round the world ,
Ive been clean of drugs and sex addiction for 7 years .
Love and Peace

I like art a lot and I think painting is very therapeutic. It's quite different to drawing, even though the two are usually linked. I just find it very calming, and usually all my focus is on what I'm working on, rather than on other things. I haven't painted in a long time and I was recently thinking I should start again. I like to use acrylics too. Acrylic inks are also really good to work with (except don't spill them on your driveway because they never come off). I think it's nice that you have given your paintings to charity. I usually trash mine. Every portfolio I've made ends up trashed because I decide I hate everything. I only have a couple of surviving pieces. My cousins have some Pokemon I painted on canvases on their bedroom wall.

I've taken art classes at a real art school twice now, I really like working in a studio environment. (I like to pretend that I'm a real art student too). One of my classes I did life drawing in, which kind of freaked me out. I'm really not keen on drawing naked old guys. Not sure I'd want to do that again. I would really like to do some more art classes - just not naked ones, but my social anxiety stuff has really been kicking my butt over the last couple of years, but maybe it's something to work towards in the future. Anyway, I'm glad you find it helpful and that you've been drug free for 7 years now. Congratulations on that.
