hugely useful book
Hi, Guys,
I want to suggest that everyone here pick up a copy of Mashall Rosenberg's book Nonviolent Communication.
I quite stunned by how useful it is in helping me understand how the way I talk to myself about my life reflects the patterns of abuse. More importantly the way he articulates healthy communication is hugely useful in helping me to reformulate how I talk to myself.
At the heart of our collective problem we're scared and we don't trust. Together these things force us to respond to the world from fear. They break our relationships, keep us from finding love, etc.
Rosenberg's book teaches us how to understand the other persons in our lives from a different perspective so that we can communicate openly. The writer is a kind of genius, i think.
We do have the power to change our lives one conversation at a time.
Here's the table of contents and a link:
1. Giving from the Heart
2. Communication that Blocks Compassion
3. Observing Without Evaluating.
4. Identifying and Expressing Feelings
5. Taking Responsibility for our Feelings
6. Requesting That Which Would Enrich Life
7. Receiving Empathically
8 The Power of Empathy
9 Connecting Compassionately With Ourselves
10. Expressing Anger Fully
11 Conflict Resolution and Mediation
12 The Protective Use of Force
13 Liberating Ourselves and Counseling Others
14 Expressing Appreciation in Nonviolent Communication
