Hi thanks for the inspiration.I am 47 and was a victim 40 years ago.and carried it since than and then found this site. Told someone ( my sister ) just yesterday..it was the hardest but best thing I ever done.still got a long way to go but it's a start.

As the opening screen tells us - You are not alone. I'm 62 and never told anyone, not even my wife of now 34 years, the horrific abuse and sex abuse done to me 50 - plus years ago. I could no longer live like that and carry the pain. I went to a therapist and it has been one of the best things I have done in my life. Yes, you do have a long way to go, we all in here do, but stay with it.
Never give up, never ever think you are not worth it - yes you are. We in here will be the first to tell you. Over and over again.

And thank YOU for the inspiration. It's always encouraging to know that no matter how long ago our abuse was, or how long we've waited to seek help, it's never too late. As Mike Lew wrote, we truly are "Victims No Longer."

I'm glad you've joined us, and made the start. Please know we can't do it for you, but likewise we will be with you always to listen, learn and struggle with you in this journey to healing.

As others have said welcome and sorry you are here. Please know you are not alone. I hid from the abuse for 40+years and when I could not hide any longer it exploded my life. You have already taken 2 huge steps: you came here and poste; and you told someone. Every telling gets easier and a little more freeing. Guilt and shame are not yours they belong to the perp but all too often we carry what belongs to the perp. Again welcome.
