I was in a wonderful relationship with someone who disclosed and then promptly ended things with me because he said he could not tease apart the abuse and me.

I know I did my best to support him, but I still struggle every day to make sense of what happened to us.

Sometimes, I feel deflated like I'm sinking in this ocean of grief. I am here to get some answers and peace. Thanks for reading this.

Hi,

That's really nice of you to try to support him. There is a good forum here for family and friends; I hope you will find it helpful.

Take care of yourself.

Hi Trying Hard ,

I love my wife dearly of 20 years but when the abuse came up last year I got into daily fights as the intimacy was too frightening . Every night I wanted to run away . It still happens to a degree . But it was a relief for her in a way as it explained why I seemed absent despite our great life . You must not blame yourself for him leaving . My wife has secondary PTSD unfortunately but our love has survived . Sorry the abuse has effected you . I tried to read up all I could on what she is going through . I felt one book was helpful despite the somewhat corny title - When your man has been abused . You might look into it . Thanks for caring .
