A very close good friend of mine was the victim of a violent rape and brutual torture by both men and women.

His recovery has not only been mentally but he underwent numerous surgeries to repair the physical damage done to his body.

I love this person more than words can say and want nothing more to help him in anyway I can.

If anyone has any suggestions in how I can help him, please e-mail me.

Thank You.

I think the first thing, Ottawa, is to be patient and just listen to him. It sounds like you have already. So that's a plus. However, don't push him into talking about issues he isn't ready to.

I also think just being there as a support system for him is VERY important, because you may be the only person he trusts and he has for support.

Don't push him into therapy if he doesn't want to or isn't ready yet.

Wow. It sounds like he went through something horrific.

Just be reassuring, nonjudgmental, and help him in anyway that he asks.

I hope this sounds ok and helps a little.

Thank you Aggie for your advice.

You are right, what he went through and is still going through both mentally and phyiscally is horrific. He is going to therapy and has a wonderful support system of friends and family around him.

If there is anyone else out there that maybe has helped somone that has been so violently hurt and has some advice, please e-mail me.

Thank you.

patience and understanding is the key..do not push him to talk .and above all do not judge him...
