Hi all

On Monday, January 26 at 10:00 AM, room 4, first floor of the State House Annex building in Trenton, New Jersey a hearing on bill S-540 will be held.

This bill would remove immunity from civil liabilty when children are victims of sexual abuse. Yes, here in NJ all religious and charitable institutions have complete immunity from civil lawsuits even when they allowed the sexual molestation of a minor! At times, some Churches and institutions have used this immunity to strong arm victims into taking small settlements as well as signing confidentiality agreements...further silencing the victim.

Well this law would change that and I am asking that any survivor of sexual abuse who can make it to this hearing PLEASE JOIN US!!! There will be many victims of sexual abuse speaking and telling their stories to the state senators. You don't have to speak if you don't want to but we would like your support. The greater number of indivuals there to support our cause can only help ensure these senators vote to support the bill becoming law. You can even submit written testimony which will be officially recorded into the record if you wish.

Please help us make history and return the RIGHT for victims in NJ to at least have a shot at civil justice!

Thanks, Mark Crawford

Mark - Is there a way that non-residents of NJ can show their support? Maybe an email address of some of the representatives who will make the decision? Or a phone number to call to voice support. If there is a way that I can show my support without attending the hearing, I'd like to do so.
