men,

i didn't realize how handy this is--malesurvivor.org, that is.

i'm at school waiting for calculus 3 to start. they have wi-fi here and i'm able 2 connect and read and post.

i really want to connect 2 others in a nonsexual way and feel human and have feelings instead of being numb and dissociated.

i just did a search 4 social anxiety groups and i may try that.

i went 2 a concert for the first time in many years and although i was scared shitless i did it and socialized even when i was scared. i'm so glad i took the risk 'cause it was a great venue and i got to bond with a friend nonsexually.

i really wanted my dad 2 love me.

love,
scott

Hey Scotty, it's your old retreat buddy. What is Calculus 3? What is that, a philosophy course or something?
Man, I remember trying to get through Math 100 so that I could take Statistics. The math majors couldn't get credit for Math 100, it was too simple for them, I guess. Well, you rock, Scott, eat that course up, we'll be rooting for you. Check in when you can.

David

Scott,

It's good to see you back and posting again, and I'm glad your courses seem to be going well for you.

I know what you mean about concerts. I still feel a bit awkward when I go into a crowded venue and find myself being jostled and crowded. But it sounds like that worked out for you too.

I hope you will continue to let us know how you are doing and raise issues as and when you feel comfortable.

Much love,
Larry

Hi Scott, glad you were able to go to the concert. I was at the libary yesterday and got a book called "Overcoming Social Anxiety and Shyness by Gillian Butler", A self-help guide using Cognitive Behavioal Techniques. I haven't read it yet, and am not sure I can do the techniques, as I am married. But it should be worth reading.

Take care,
Clifford

hi scotts - long time no see -

hey, thanks for the welcome, gentlemen. it's nice to be back on here with a slightly different "mind" (more adult).

bombed the calculus test (to me a "c" is bombing; it's my first one). hen i went back, the good dr. went over the 20 problems like he was running a marathon. he did one example (this is a long joke, you may continue at the * symbol if you'd like):

r.=, r1.=, and r2.=

proove |r.-r1.|-|r.-r2.|=k, where k > |r1.-r2.|

crackers what a mess that was. he did some mumbo-jumbo and said it yields an ellipse. nobody got it except the kind soul who scored 21/20! When most of us balked and said we didn't understand how he "got" the result, the prof. looked right at me and barked, "What's the definition of a circle?" I started to say, "x sqared plus..." and he got plenty nasty with me and said he wanted the definition, not the equation. that part i'm not complaining about. the killer was that he then led a 5-minute oration on how the squiggly lines doing this intersect with the tangent lines on the fourth tuesday when the moon is full and venus is in retrograde ;D

been much better at socializing--maybe the adhd is getting more in control. experiencing emotions lately that have really left me feeling human and loving--like i'm connecting with others and my partner and not dissociated or afraid and numb.

Doug and I bought a piano and I went to the music store after the gym and bought some sheet music. one of the pieces was "You Raise Me Up." At the concert, I vowed to buy a shaker so I got a "soft" shaker which has a lovely tone. I figure i'll add some real "shaker" to the music i make on the computer.

Since my dog died this summer, we're looking at getting two yellow lab pups. i want the yellow 'cause yellow seems friendly. any ideas are most welcome.

it's realky nice hearing from all of you; i'll read some more posts over the weekend.

take care,
Scott

Scott,

Better luck next time around in calculus, but it looks like things in other areas are coming along fine. Good for you!

A lab ought to be a great pet. They're very affectionate and great to have around. I'm a shepherd fan, but a friend of mine had a lab and that was one AMAZING dog! :)

Much love,
Larry
