Now that this one is past, here's a tip: Keep a record of your posts on this topic and the responses you got. Just copy them all in chronological order, print them out and stick them in an envelope marked something like "Therapist Freakout".
Why? Because there will be many more days like this in the future, when you will be facing something new that is intimidating or frightening. When those days come, look back at how you felt when you were preparing for this visit, how well it went, and how you feel about it now. It was all okay! You have a record! You know!
Our feelings can be so useful and important, but our goal has to be for us to use them, not for them to control us.
