it is our duty to forgive,
but we can only forgive those who trespass against us.
it is a different story when they hurt someone else.
then it becomes our duty to intervene, prevent and protect, to the best of our ability.
the only person(s) who may forgive this perp is his victim(s).

just my humble opinion.

great poem.
obviously it got me thinking.
I have spent a lot of time on this subject.
HATE is an addiction for me.
I used to keep it locked up in a metal box, in a safe, in a vault, in a dungeon, in a cave, deep in the darkness of my heart. It was my precious. My secret power. Whenever I was feeling low on fuel, I would pull it out and polish it. This sacred hatred was like a lump of coal that I had transformed into a diamond. I imagined I could replace my heart with this carbon crystal of hardened hate. But it was only glass, and shattered into a million tiny shiny shards.

thanks for sharing.

I don't think forgiveness is a duty. I could go for forgiving being the healthy and wise choice, but very little in life is actually required. We have choice.

The rest of your comment I agree with completely. Thanks for reading my poem.
