Happy Anniversary To Me!

Just gotta say that today I've been married to my wonderful wife for 23 years! We celebrated yesterday and it was the best ever. We went to look for some seafood restaurants along the waterfront and found one that wasn't even on our list. My wife said it was the perfect food & atmosphere for the occassion. I agree.

For the first time since I was maybe 10, living in Tampa Florida, I had frog legs, and my wife tried them for the first time.

No, they don't taste like chicken, they taste like frog! :p Actually, kinda like a cross between chicken & some kind of fish or seafood. Really good!

This is the second time in the last month or so that I got to re-live one of my few good childhood
memories (December 27 I rode the Central Park carousel for the first time since I was 2 or 3).

What's cool is I wasn't even looking for frog legs; I'd kinda thot about it from time to time thru the years, but given up on really trying. Then, here they were!

Don't give up!

Victor

Congratulations on the anniversary. Milestones like that are precious and I am glad you enjoyed it in style.

And aren't those memories a real joy when you can re-experience them again. That sense of peace and comfort is amazing when it kicks in.

Here's to more of the same for everyone…

Happy aniversary. It sounds like you had a wonderful day. Congratulations. My parents would have celebrated their 49th aniversary two weeks after my dad died. I hope you and your wife make it that far and further.

I have never Tried Frog legs. I was tempted to one day. What I came close to trying one day was Rocky Mountain Oysters. I asked someone what they tasted like before I did and he told me B***s. :p O K. I chickened out so I guess I can say I didn't/don't have any.

Take care,

John

Gary: Thanks.

And indeed more of the same for all of us, and for you, my friend.

John: Thanks.

Whoa! I think I might've figured out why I love oysters anyway except raw. And why I can't stand boiled okra tho I can eat it fried. :o

I remember when I was in I think kindergarten or first grade, they made me eat boiled okra for school lunch one day.

Needless to say, after they cleaned up the mess, they never made me eat boiled okra again. :D

Thank God for the good memories!

Victor

Victor:

Twenty-three years married is a wonderful accomplishment, congrats!!!

hey, knock off having the good experiences eh

rrrriiibbbbiiiittttttt

Thanks Jer!

In my water aerobics classes, I used to try to get the class into their frog hop exercises by having them "rrriibbiit", but for some reason the class, mostly women & mostly older women, didn't appreciate that idea too much!

Victor

Victor, that's great. Happy anniversary to you both.

But I don't know about the frogs legs, if it swims I dont eat it, if it swims in swamps then I definatly dont eat it :p

Dave :D

Victor it is so good to see that you are enjoying your self in life, I use to be a bus boy in a restaurants called the Mississippi Belle and we servied frog legs. You could alse tell when some one didn,t like the Frog Legs and I would make sure that I removed the plate from the table, with 2 or 3 untouched legs . They went into the food warmer to be eaten on break. Every weekend I had Frog Legs, they grew old after awhile.
Hope your next 23 years are full of joy, Muldoon

Victor,
Happy anniversary to you...
Happy anniversary to you...
Happy anniversary dear Victor & wife
Happy anniversary to you...

Congratulations on your 23 years.... and thanks for being around here on this site.

Don

Dave, Matt, Muldoon & Don: Thanks a lot guys!

Yeah, it is great to be able to remember & relive some good memories instead of just bad ones, to be able to start overcoming the past and being an overcomer (Victor-ious :) ) in the present, really living & enjoying life.

Muldoon, I envy you all those frog legs, but I guess I'd get tired of them too. Maybe...

Matt, speaking of sinking my teeth into things, I'd like to try some good gator meat sometime. And I can't sink my teeth into enuf good seafood!

Dang I'm getting hungry. Time to go eat my Super Bowl nachos--with my wonderful wife! :D

Victor

Thanks Scotty! There were times we thot we might not make it, but we knew it was right & we have always been determined to make things work out. A simplistic formula, but then life is complicated enuf as it is, especially with all my issues. Both of us having a sense of humor--humor for us, anyway--has helped a whole lot!

Victor

Congrats on your anniversary.

It would be nice if you would ship a crate or two of frog legs to Milwaukee!!

Enjoy! Hope you were a Bucs fan tonight! You can go eat frog legs again.

Bob

Victor,
Happy anniversary!
My first taste of frog legs was right after the nomsv retreat in September! Me and another guy from the retreat dined at one of his favorite haunts in the city. Yeah--tastes like "chicken" with a "seafood edge"!!!
Friend--I admire your courage. You actually ADMIT to doing water aerobics with the old ladies at the pool?
Hey Victor--I was playing Led Zeppelin & the Jim Carroll Band on the radio when you were tying the knot. Glad to know you made it work all these years with all you've been through. Here's a hug for you both! ((( :D :D )))

Happy aniversary Victor!

My wife and I have been together almost 13 years, but 23, man thats how old I was when i met her!

p.s.

You've heard it said that 25 years is the silver aniversary and 50 is the gold aniversary, but I say:
23 is the frog leg aniversary
24 is the escargot aniversary
25 is the rocky mountain oyster aniversary

congratulations!

Victor,

I don't know if you know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are from your reply. They are very popular in the west.

Let's see how can I put this. You know what a bull is. You know what a steer is. You know what they do to a bull to make him a steer. They fry that to make Rocky Mountain Oysters.

Kind of like the first time I had escargot. They tasted great until my brother-in-law told me what they were. :D

As Victor and his wife were driving into the restaurant parking lot, this one was seen leaving out the back:

Thanks Bob!

So you like the frog legs, Bob? Not too easy to find in NC, at least not this time of year.

However, since the Bucs won the SuperBowl--YES! YIPPIE! YAHOO! :p  :D (sorry, got carried away there!)--I should drive down to Tampa and try to find that restaurant where I first ate them--if it's still there--and celebrate with a big plate of big frog legs! :p YUM YUM! Or I could just take my wife right back up to that nice restaurant & order up a batch there!

What an anniversary weekend! An incredible wife for 23 years, the Bucs win the SuperBowl, and the NC State Wolfpack even beat the archrival UNC Tar Heels--the game after, BTW, beating the #3 rival Duke Blue Devils!

Hot Dog! I mean, Frog Legs! ;)

Sure makes the pain & the struggles a lot easier to live with. Sure makes life worth living!

Interesting, there's a retreat in Florida in May, not too far from Tampa. If I can find a way to the retreat, I could actually eat frog legs in my old stomping ground again, maybe even at that same restaurant!

Yeah, I admit it. Unfortunately it's hard to get men to even try a class, much less stick with it. In spite of the fact that the last time I looked I was one (a man, that is!) Besides, it's really the only regular exercise my fibromyalgia permits me to do. Fortunately, I'm really getting into it. I've just started working on a home course to get certified.

Thanks a lot Rick my friend, from myself & my wife!

Hey Mo, I was also 23 (actually just short of it) when I met my wife! So I guess I'm a bit older than you. But if I made it this far so can you!

p.s.
