Half Disaster, Half Good

Guys,

I went to that group that I talked about. It's supposed to be a mixed group. But I was the only male there.

I didn't say much except that I was a survivor. But even that is good I guess.

They have a men's only meeting Thursday's, but it's later. Guess I'll have to give up a little sleep to go to that one.

But at least I showed up. And I will go back for the Men's meeting on Thursday.

Only man there?!!? That would not be very comfortable! Good luck with the men's group, and keep us posted.

Marc you may think you made a small step but we all know different. The road ahead is now firmly in focus. Bumps yes! That is what we are here for along with the odd flat tire. We can als spare some gas on occasion. The expensive kind not the smelly kind. :D

I have occasionally been the only guy at the SIA meetings, too. At an SIA retreat last winter there were separate, single sex meetings. The mens' meeting there was a very interesting experience for me. I have not been to any others, but given the chance, I would go to another.

I'm glad you got to the meeting and found out about the Thursday meeting. It's a big step in breaking free of this stuff, at least it was for me.

I, like EVRYONE here, am SO VERY PROUD OF YOU! :)

Even if it was a female only meeting, you took another HUGE step n your recovery and taking back your life!

I THINK your next male meeting will be easier. Know that ALL of us from MS will be with you in spirit, support, ande love!

That is so excellent Marc! You've got more courage than I have. My therapist has been trying to get me to go to a group for years... just can't bring myself to do it.

Definately impressed... hope it continues to help you.

Like others here, man I applaud you for taking that step. It's the little steps we take that add up into cummulative progress. Let us know how the Thursday meeting goes as well. I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

Marc: It is good to go to group. It is there that we get the full range of emotions from others in our particular boat. Personally I think it makes the journey a whole lot better. Same with Retreats.

There is no group available here. Its ironic because there is so much available here for guys in abuse recovery.

It makes it easy, though. Without a group available I can talk like it would be easy to go but I really think it would not be easy.

I admire your courage in taking that step. Definitely tell us about the men's group. Even though its not at a convenient time I'm betting that its going to feel good.
 
Yikes. I would have left room and never come back. You are a strong man! I hope the male group is better for you. Good luck.
