Frontline Broadcast
Tonight I watched the Public Broadcasting TV magazine Frontline. It was a documentary titled "Hand of God" and is the story of Paul Cultrera, his abuse by Fr. Birmingham, and the larger scandal in the Boston Archdiocese.

It is a very candid look at the ruin brought into one life and the secret culture of power, abuse and arrogance of those who claimed to be the chosen of God.

The program will be available via streaming video beginning sometime Tomorrow, Wed. January 17, 2007 for on demand viewing at the following link

Hand of God

There will be a link on that page to watch the program.

It's worth watching especially if you may be under informed about the clergy abuse scandals.

Also, there may be some TRIGGERS in the program.

Lots of love,

John

Thanks John for bringing this to our attention. I believe the more informed we all are, the less perps (no matter how well they are looked upon in society) will be viewed as beyond reproach. The best way to snuff out this criminal act is by opening our eyes and holding everyone (even those who claim to be chosen of God) accountable for their criminal actions!
Thanks for the link!

this film is excellent; the cinematography is full of metaphors, maybe to keep the graphics out? i don't know but i found the film to be very moving, was amazing how much i understood as the story was told compared to if i'd watched it a year ago - before learning so much about male survivors.

especially poignant was his description of his moment of first disclosure and how he said afterwards he realized the earth didn't open up, etc.

an associate of mine who just happens to also be a filmmaker told me about it just before it aired, so after watching it we talked about it at length - he also thought it was brilliant - very well done.

i can't believe the courage it must have taken for Paul to not just tell his story, but to do it in such a matter-of-fact way; with details, as well as his struggles afterwards.

this is truly an informative film, awesome even.

i would encourage the f&f members to watch this film, as john said above, it will be available on-line for a free download.
