From the new President
I thought I would share with members the highlights of our most recent Board meeting (Feb 18-20) in New York City.
With Fred Tolson having to leave early I moved from President-elect to President. John Crowe also resigned from the Board because of health reasons, leaving the post of Treasurer that he was to assume vacant. Rick Goodwins term on the Board expired, leaving the post of Secretary also vacant.
We appointed four new Board members: Danny Fowler, Anthony Rodriguez, Curtis St. John, and Stephen Vincent. A new Treasurer and Secretary will be appointed very soon.
We are in the final stages of securing liability insurance that will cover all MaleSurvivor activities, especially the Weekends of Recovery. A new protocol is now being written that, with insurance in place, will allow the resumption of the Weekends of Recovery program to resume, hopefully in late Spring.
We are beginning to develop major fund-raising initiatives to support and expand that program, to enhance and augment our website, to improve MS operations, etc. We will also be intensifying our membership drive.
We have begun planning for our next international conference, this one to be held in Philadelphia probably in October 2006.
