Warning DO NOT use Topic Back to Button.
The one place that I alse felt safe at was this web site until this afternoon. 11/702 the day this web site sent me on a flashback to my porn days. It is not a simple task to end the habbit of online porn but it was totally out of my mind until I wanted to look at the topic from the last 100 days.In a second I am ripped out of my home my safe place into somewhere I don,t want to be. A web site called Mactopia with all it's flashing lites and poping graphics. It reminded me of an porn site and just like a porn site it wouldn,t let me out, the back would take me home to MaleSurvivor nore could I xout of Mactopia.Don,t know what that fucking site was but I didn't want to be there ,had to ,pull the power from the wall.
This has been bringing me down big time. At one moment I am in my safe place the next I am locked away with evil.

Hello Muldoon,

Would you please tell me exactly what occured so that we can replicate your experience.

Hi again Muldoon,

MS Admin knows much more than I do so I think he will work it out. It sounds like you had something happen to you that happened to me the other day at the school where I work. I was bombarded by pop ups four or five at a time and I tried to shut every thing down as well. Eventually I must have gotten the internet to quit and it was okay after that.

I am not sure there is much that can be done about that. I tried to download a pop-up blocker but it did not install.

I am sorry that happened to you. Hopefully it won't set you back for long. Flashbacks are really awful experiences.

As a safety valve or last ditch way to get away from that nastiness you can:

In any WINDOWS machine, hit and hold Ctrl-Alt-Delete, then click end task. This woill close the browqser woindow. You can repeat this to close additional windows. If that won't stop them hit and hold Ctrl-Alt-Delete, then hit and hold Ctrl-Alt-Delete again. The computer will shutdown and retsart. It is better than puliing the plug...

I hope this isn't too obvious, and/or I have explained it well enough to be of use.

Peace, guys.

Hi Muldoon,

I doubt if it was this website that directed you to mactopia. I tried to view the posts from the last 100 days, and it worked fine.

When this happens to me, its generally because :

1. Im browsing multiple sites in multiple browser windows, and on some site, they have this nasty script which runs as soon as the page loads, and will keep opening popups.

2. Now they're capable of opening browser windows and popups via media-player/real-player, so that could be another cause, if Im playing some audio/video file in the background.

3. A virus or a worm. These can get into you system from stupid Microsoft applications like outlook, and others, just because Microsoft's application security sucks. I've also had these worms get installed on my system if I download and execute some .exe file from a source that is not very trustworthy.

So, if possible, try to run an virus scan and see if everything is ok. And if at all possible, retry your steps and see if it happens again.

Sometimes, we have to relive the pain, to understand it better.

take care
rax.

Unfortunately, I've found there are these stupid worms or viruses or whatever that "experts" with such crap, including "cyberporn experts," use to "piggyback" onto sites that use key words like "sex," in any form or context. Usually they get filtered out, but popups & stuff can slip in sometimes. Regular virus scans & updates, watching the stuff Rax mentioned, helps a lot.

Unfortunately, when you get stuff popping up on your screen that gives no way to get rid of it, as the cybersexpushers love to do, sometimes even following the pattern Cement gave doesn't work. At least not for me on my computer. I know this becuz I've had it happen, and had to turn the computer off & restart it to get rid of the crap.

Of course that has only happened to me when I was bringing up porn in the 1st place, so there's an obvious answer to that particular problem. One that thankfully I've been able to put to work for some time now.

Muldoon, I'm sorry about the flashbacks. I haven't had any since around the 9-11 anniversary and few between then & the spring. But before that, back to THE 9-11, I had a flood of them. Sadly, they sometimes came when I was on recovery websites. Not always becuz of popups, but just becuz it could be triggering. Rare, thankfully.

I don't know if you've had flashbacks before or not. If so, you may know some ways to ease or work thru them. If not, feel free to message me here or PM if you want. Also a web keyword search should turn up something. The PTSD website Sidran has some good stuff on it.

Take care of yourself
