fine

sportinrucks,

Yes, you do have a right to be accepted for who you are and where you are in your life. The problem often arises, though, that one person will misread and misinterpret what someone else says and does. Their reaction doesn't mean they reject the other person, just that they don't understand what that other person has said or done.

I think we need to be gentle with ourselves, but it's also in our interest not to drive good caring people away from us by taking their misunderstanding as rejection or dismissal. Unfortunately, the level of public awareness of the impact of CSA is still pretty low, and many really decent people simply don't have the information they would need to understand or to respond effectively to help. In fact, many of their apparently triggering and dismissive questions are just requests for that information.

Much love,
Larry
