How about the regulars here reminding us of the best sites for finding song lyrics ? 'cause I for one have forgotten to add the sites to my 'Favourites' list !

Dave

Dave,

I usually just do a search on whatever lyrics I want, along with the artist, or go to an artist site, so I can't remember any specific lyrics sites.

A lot of the lyrics sites have horrible pop-ups so you are probably better off searching for a fan site of the particular band you are looking for. Most fan sites will have lyrics and less pop-ups unless they are hosted on tripod, lycos, geocities, etc.

a quick note for anyone who wants to never see a pop up again: download the opera browser at Opera

The version with an unintrusive ad banner is free, it's a fast browser, and it allows you many options (blocking pop up windows is just one) that you will probably never get with IE and Netscape. But opera can't completely replace those browsers, as there are compatability issues with imbedded multimedia, java, and some cascading style sheets.

Bad news for lyrics searches:

Check this BBC story on the Music Publishers Association cracking down on internet song lyrics sites because most lyrics are copyrighted, and most sites don't have permission to display the lyrics.

Get 'em while they're there.

Another suggestion about pop-ups... I found a piece of software called PopUpCop with a free eval and $20US to buy... it stops pop ups, flash auto play, animated gifs, and lots more and is remarkable customizable. It lives as a toolbar in IE... don't know about others. It really changed the web expreience for me. But its just a thought.

Google has a free popup blocker that really works. Go to google and install the blocker which comes with the search line (not bad if Google is your favorite search engine).

Opera, is a brilliant alternative to IE, it is loaded with features. I use it to browse this site, not a pop up anywhere, and it is more secure browser, check it out.

Hmmmmm. Could someone please explain to me what this is a fixed subject? Is it more worthy than other posts? With 11 responses in 18 months, I think not. Especially since all the response this year have no links to lyrics?

I heard a great song the past couple of days from
"Chess" the broadway musical -
I wish I could find lyrics for it - the song is such a survivor's story - if i find it I will post it here -

A blatant plug, https://janisian.com/index.html Janis Ian has at least a hundred of her lyrics there. She also describes the work that goes on to make a CD she has some free MP3's including her very first provocative song Society's child.
She also has some MP3's on https://www.individualidade.com.br/janisian/ click on her name for the popup site, then click on web radio. On this she has her very famous song (At Seventeen) that she wrote at 15, which became a top 10 tune in the 70's, but trust me you want to get them all!

SongMeanings.Com -- a site where fans give their opinions on what a song means as well as correct lyrics that are posted. You can search based on Band, Artist and Lyric.

Are there many musicians who write about sexual abuse? What about from the male perspective?
