Hi
I have just become a member here and have only added a comment to an existing topic. I would like to thank a fellow canuck Mike Church for responding to me with his support. I am having problems deciding on who exactly I should see for help and support in the form of counselling. Is there a network of counsellors in Canada (I am in Nova Scotia) specific to adult male survivors? My situation is not very good right now and I really need to see someone soon, sorry to sound so desperate.

Hello,

Being just a Yankee, I don't have any knowledge of where to start looking, but others will.

I just wanted to welcome you here. You have found some of the greatest, most understanding guys you will meet. I'm sorry that you had to go through what you have to get here, but I'm glad you're with us.

So welcome again,

Peace,

Marc

Canada38,

Mike Church is a great guy. If he hasn't found something in NS for you yet, maybe you can check with the Mens' Project/Le Projet Pour Hommes (https://www.themensproject.ca/index.html) in Ottawa for more Canadian info. At the very least you could talk to someone there without making an obscenely expensive international call if you need to talk right now.

I wish you didn't need to make a call like that. It shouldn't happen to any of us, but because it did, we are banding together to help one another now. Welcome to Male Survivor.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi there, the Canadian Gov't web site has a lot of useful information and links, so that might be a good start.

Also I found online an organization that was based in Windsor NS that looked useful as well.

I like NS and have visited often, my brother lives down the 'valley' now but has lived just about everywhere there over the last 40 years.

But until you find something local, stick with MS, we're here to help.

OH, Canada,

Not making fun of your National Anthem, but I got to tell you I'm kinda in those same throughs; finding and making good use of therapy.
Joe has a good idea about contacting that Mens' Project up there. We met Rick Goodwin in Minneapolis last September and he's a gem. Rick can be reached at 613-230-6179; he should have a good suggestion or two.
And, GOOD LUCK for today, I leave for therapy in about an hour and I could use your well wishes, as well.

David

Welcome here. I am a 'transplanted' Russian now in the U.S., but was actually in Nova Scotia few weeks ago. Very beautiful.

I hope that you are able to get the information you are needing. But also, I hope you are able to come here and gain support and understanding. This is a quite remarkable site.

Good luck.
