circumcision

circumcision
For me, I longed to be circumcised from the time I knew what it was and chose to have it done when I was around 20 or so years, as soon as I could afford to pay for it. It was a rite of passage for me and I am glad I had it done. I never had kids of my own so never had to make that decision. Personally, having spent the first twenty some years of my life uncircumcised, I prefer being circumcised but thats just my personal feeling.

I can appreciate that some people dislike tattoos, although I have several. Mine are not on constant display, as they are usually covered by a shirt. I am not ashamed of any of them.

I have never rushed into having a tattoo, and have no regrets about having any of them.

In this country, you must be at least 18 to get a tattoo. An older person would not be allowed to take you to a tattoo parlor, and hold you down whilst someone else forced one onto you. If anyone tattoed a child, then child protection services would be called immediately.

I believe that being circumcised should be an adult decision made by the individual concerned. It is required sometimes on medical grounds at an early age, and that is understandable.

Tattoos can actually be removed, it is very difficult to grow a foreskin back (it involves a lot of stretching to have any success).

A foreskin is there to protect a very sensitive part of a mans body.

It is the right of the individual to decide what happens to their own body. No one has the right to make that decision for them.

As Dale states above, he wanted to have it done! He was old enough to make the decision, and that's how it should be!

Best wishes ...Rik

*PS - anyone that has been circumcised...you are not freaks in any way...don't let anyone tell you that you are!

Rick57 said, "A foreskin is there to protect a very sensitive part of a mans body."

A new study will be published this month showing that Rick's statement is not true. Circumcision removes 75% of penile sensitivity. The inner and outer foreskin are the MOST sensitive part of the penis, and the glans is the LEAST sensitive part. The conclusion is clear, perpetrators maim the male organ.

i am not circumcized, and i think it is pretty fucked up to hack off part of a baby's penis before he even knows what's going on. i guess it had value in the past if it prevented infections and stuff but in this modern age there is little excuse for it. at least thats what i think. of course its not like i chose not to be circumsized but im glad i wasnt. i guess mostly glad anyway. there are some issues around it and the abuse though. if i had no foreskin by abuser would not have been able to hurt me with it. but thats not a discussion for now i dont think....

Dan - if once you are circumcised, you loose 75% sensitivity, then that is a very good reason not to be circumcised (unless there is a medical requirement). If the foreskin is not there to protect a very sensitive part of your body (the most sensitive part of mine anyway), then what is it for?

Best wishes ...Rik
