i am trying to help a survivor in chicago. can anyone here from chicago help me with a recommendation on a therapist in that area. thanks

Phostr.

There are two therapists is Illinois listed in the Survivors menu at the top under Find a Therapist.

I don't know if they are close, but they could possibly give you leads.

i saw those, arent near chicago, but thanks. i was hoping maybe someone from chicago could help me steer him in right direction.

One suggestion to try is to contact the local rape crisis center in the Chicago area close to where your friend lives. Sometimes they are familiar with therapists that deal with adults molested as children. I know locally we have a list that we can refer survivors to. It's place to start.

You might also try VOICES (Victims of Incest Can Emerge Survivors) which has a resource directory, as well as RAINN (Rape and Incest National Network) Google either of them and you can find therapists in their network.

Obviously, MS has therapist resources who have experience in male victimization, but if you strike out here, try the others.

Ken/Phoster,
I was just going to suggest Voices because they once had their offices there. They may very likely have some good contacts and if you write to [email protected] someone should be able to help you. I don't remember their phone number but it is on their website at www.voices-action.org
