chat room/java console issues

Sorry but my java console seems to be not working. I am only posting this here because I c bill is viewing and I just got kikd off right in the middle of a good talk with him. but can anyone help me because the chat gets EXTREMELY laggy like 1 minute per msg for me
a msg i type in 10 seconds can take minutes. and then it just completely freezes on me. any ideas?
