Cannot deal with this anymore (STRONG TRIGGERS!)
Scot - sorry I've been away again (friends helping me up again) or would have responded sooner.
Once I started on the road to recovery (but still a bit directionless), I set myself a task lists of things to do. Some pretty simple like doing the washing up (believe it or not at work I ran a shift of about 30 people while I had all this crap in my head - how I'll never know)...at home I used to wait until I'd used every available mug in the house before washing them in one grand gesture (barely functioning). Things like taking out the rubbish / ironing shirts because they had been washed, not just because I had to iron one to have something to wear.
Now I'm looking at learning 1, possibly 2 languages (wouldn't have considered doing that a couple of months ago). I have started painting again - something that I stopped doing properly years ago (yes around that time).
If I don't manage to do something, then I'm not so hard on myself. I'm gettin my life back & I will do what I want/need to do in my time.
Give yourself time...don't expect too much from yourself (nor too little)...steady progress,,, that's the best path.
*Think of it a bit like people that go on crash diets (sorry if anyone does this), they loose the weight quickly but it tends to come back... those who loose it slowly seem to have more lasting success. We all want to get there yesterday, but knowing that we could be there in several months time is better than our starting point....remember patience is a virtue. It's taken most of us years to acknowledge to ourselves why we are where we are - let's just give ourselves a bit of time to get where we want to be.
34 years for me to start doing something about it.... I know that we can all break these chains... this is a good site.
Best wishes again ..Rik
