British Paedophile jailed for life - STRONG TRIGGER.

Hello again everyone -

At last one of these evil b******s has got what he deserves - the downside is that there are more victims.

Thomas Titley (his name is all over the media in the UK, so presume it's OK to type here)aged 46 years has just been jailed for life for abusing 7 and 8 year old boys.. The reason that they could give him life, was that for several hours he had held each of the boys in a pit under his house floor (where he abused them). This was classed as false imprisonment thus allowing the life sentence. Had the abuse not included imprisonment in the pit, the sentence would probably have been a maximum of 10 years.

The abuse was only discovered because one of the boy's Mothers was decorating her house, and rolled the carpet up to avoid damage....her Son went hysterical when she did this because He thought it meant they had a pit in their own home.

The boys had been lured with the promise of beer & cigarettes (to make them feel like little men I bet)- they were then told if they said anything about what had happened, he would inform their mother's that they smoked.

Thomas Titley had been jailed previously for abusing boys & received a sentence of 4.5 years (could have been maximum of 10) of which he served 3.

He had asked to be locked up for good on the first occassion, however the law does not allow this (crazy).

Norman Brennan, spokesman for the Victims of Crime Trust said: 'There is no known medical cure for paedophiles. It beggars belief why they are released in the first place.'

I only hope life means life & not a maximum of 25 years which is often the case in the UK (usually with remission).

Looking forward to the day there are no new victims...Rik

And again -

Forgot to thank Detective Inspector Neil Beechey who led the investigation & achieved a successful result.

I only wish that news like that could make me feel good. Obviously, no winners here. But, at least, he received the same sentence he gave those poor boys. May they get the help they need and find some peace in their lives, hearts and souls.

this scumbag lived about 20 miles from me, and his name has been circulating for a long time. He had been convicted some time before for abuse, but there are a lot of other victims out there for certain.

Dave

No offense to my British brothers, but what does "life" entail, exactly?

If it's life with a possibility of parole, then this (expletive) will get out again.

Not sure how to handle this, the (expletive) is evil and should be just killed.

Him and all abusers.

Scot

That's good that the fucker will be off the streets....

I can't understand why everyone, chants "Kobe-Kobe" or "Michael"...Gimme a break.

My thoughts to the "survivors".

If this guy does walk free again, he'll be a very old man.
But there's a chance he will be paroled sometime.

I agree, life should mean life.

Dave

Dave. Unfortunately we live in a so called enlightened society. We have the same screwy laws here. Life means 12 years with a possibility of parole after seving a quarter of the sentence.

What should really happen is that when he goes to prison he is put in with the general prison population with the only condition being that he is kept alive. Now that is what I call justice.

Sorry but I believe an eye for an eye.
Does that make me a right wing bigot or just someone who believes that the punishment suit the crime.

Mike,

That does not make you a right wing bigot. I would say you're being sane in an insane world.

At the risk of sounding like a left wing woosie, I would go for the full life sentence.
And NOT with all the 'comforts' prisoners seem to get in some places.

give them some time to reflect, within four walls with nothing more than the 'privelidge' of a bed and a toilet.

And on a similar theme - tonight in our very parochial local paper that covers a smallish rural area, all these reports had something to do with rape / CSA in the immediate area.

David Bagnall - 10 charges of distributing child porn. ( caught by AOL and US Customs cyber-smuggling team ) awaiting sentence.

A former world class soccer player caught "dogging" - having sex with strangers and in public.

A man murdered at a house that appears to be a brothel

And four reports of men charged with underage sex.

And then there's the national and international news with another six stories in a similar vein !

Build more prisons, we're gonna need them :(

Dave

We just had one scumbag get a life sentence(i believe without parole) the next county over for multiple counts of child rape of a little girl. I was glad to see it happen as when he gets down there in prison it will be hell for him. I am sure you can all understand my feelings in this.

I would favor the death penalty myself as it is closer to true justice. And the recidivism rate is 0%. But that is just my opinion.

As screwed up and predatory as many prisoners are, they do know some measure of decency and justice. I don't know what that says about our society when the dregs of it are closer to doing what is right than the legal system.

PS (added with edit)
I hate the term pedophile, it is a false word designed to make them sound less threatening. They are child molestors or child rapists. If you look at the root words pedophile means one who loves children. In which case Mr. Rogers was a fine example of the more true use of the word. But maybe this has been hashed out before here, I am new.

Parttimecop. Welcome to the brotherhood.

Pedophile. I look at that word and say to myself it is society's way of sanitizing the crime. Yeh Child molesters, rapists are far better words.

But you see the so called normal part of society is what breeds these assholes. I cannot figure that one out.

Are they just protecting themeselves? I dont know the answer to that.

I do not know why this crime is not a federal offence and the full might of the state is brought to bear. I am not sure what the law is in Canada but presume it is provincial and not federal.

Pedophile - translated from latin means something like "child-lover". Which does describe the offenders at the nambla end of things I suppose, if you're being really pedantic.
I think the better word is something like "pedoscale" which means "child-defiler" ( I think )

Maybe we have some scholers out there who can enlighten us ?

Partimecop, Mike, Dave...

Some years ago I used to work in a special needs environment. At the time, a decision was made to change 'Spastic' to 'Cerebral Palsey' because the former had negative connotations. I raised the point at the time, that a new name could develop the same negative connotations if people took that route. i.e a name was a name!

Pedophile (USA Spelling) or Paedophile (UK spelling) means pretty much the same to all of us I think...giving 'it' a name that we all recognise, means that we all understand what we are talking about.... A PERVERT THAT MESSES ABOUT WITH CHILDREN OR YOUNG ADULTS THAT DO NOT HAVE THE CLARITY OF UNDERSTANDING TO AGREE TO THE ACTS CARRIED OUT UPON THEM (my definition).

The Collins Gem English Dictionary (pocket size) gives the following definitions:

Paedophillia - condition of being sexually attracted to children!
Paedophile - person who is sexually attracted to children.

*Both of those definitions do not indicate that those individuals act upon those attractions - in my/our definition they do. I am equally happy to call them perverts/ perpetrators etc...but names???? I don't think they matter that much... I think it's the understanding of what they are that matters.

If this post sounds aggressive, it's not...just believe that names do not really matter at the end of the day.... a rose by any other name would still be a rose (although a rotten one in this instance).

Best wishes ...Rik

Thanks for the welcome. In a way I guess you could say I have been a part of it most of my life. I may post about that elsewhere.

I guess i have more of a call it like I see it vocabulary. I am well aware of the power and reason words are chosen. In some ways I suppose george orwell and his thought police are alive and well. The way we use words is very powerful, words carry ideas. They carry such potent loads. And that is why I prefer my way of refering to them, though I will sometimes slip and refer to them as pedophiles.

I guess about society breeding them, who knows why. It has been a problem since civilization began. But then again evil always has been a part of mankind. I think a big part of it is because society refuses to deal with the issue very well. Both for the boys and girls who suffer and for those who inflict suffering. There are some screwed up people out there.

For a little while I worked in a mental hospital for children who had behavioral and mental problems. In over 50% of the cases there was known sexual abuse. And I know of at least two patients who were the product of incest. It is truly sad and at the time I felt like I was not making a difference. SO I moved on. However I do still wonder about some former patients.

I think part of the problem is that our society has a consumerist(whats in it for me, how much will it cost, how nice does it look, am I keeping up with the Joneses, etc) point of view about sex. Not a healthy view, what ever that is. Men are encouraged to be almost predatory with women. Maybe that is part of the problem. In our society we as men are told to be conquerers. What is wrong with being partners. But overcoming that programming is hard. I still am stuck in that rut myself.

Pardon for goin on so much and hijacking the thread, I am just so glad to be able to express these things.

Partimecop -

Sorry that I didn't welcome you here in my last post (keep forgetting to do that & so many people welcomed me not so long ago).

Please don't worry about rambling or hijacking threads - it's good that you have taken to adding comments that can either support others, or make some of us think about the way we view things. I value your comments and opinions...

...thanks ....Rik.
