Today I feel like I scored a victory for our side.
Not the men's or women's side, but for survivors and people who deal with a difficult mixed message.
While driving with my son and listening to the radio, we sang out loud together. As the song played, I interjected that it wasn't true. My six year old son was a little irritated with me getting carried away with the sing along, so I stopped.
When we got home, I asked him what he thought about what I had done. He said in his wiser voice, "Well, yes, people who get married shouldn't feel tortured."
Since he and his Mom and I have separated, I've hoped that my children would somehow not get the same messages we got wrong. I've hoped that they might find their way to something safer and healthier.
Thanks to all who hang out here and hang in there. God knows it ain't easy, especially when our ideas of love seem mixed up with pain.
