I've read breaking free - help for survivors of child sexual abuse by c ainscough. Which I found quite helpful. But now I'm looking for other books to read as a follow up. I'm 29 and starting talking about my abuse, at the age of 7, about 3 years ago now.

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi Mark,

I'd highly recommend Richard Gartner's "Betrayed as Boys" or else his "Beyond Betrayal," which is more survivor-oriented and accessible than "Betrayed as Boys." Also, Mike Lew's "Victims No Longer."

Mark,

In addition to Mike Lew's book (mentioned already by John), I would recommend Mic Hunter's "Abused as Boys". Both of these books are really great and should be read slowly. There's a lot to digest in them!

Much love,
Larry

i have read abused boys too, and found it very empowering. Mic Hunter has another Leaping upon mountains that i mean to read, but havent.

i can also vouch for victims no longer. it is a basic read for anyone here i would think.

Trauma and Recovery by Judith Hermann
Victims No Longer by Mike Lew and
Beyond Betrayal by Richard Gartner

Victims No Longer by Mike Lew, I'm just so impressed with this book that I take it holiday!

Dave

I have read Victims No Longer by Lew, and a book about anxiety Dancing With Fear ("Overcoming anxiety in a world of stress and uncertainty.") by Paul Foxman.

Mic Hunters "Abused Boys - The Neglected Victims of Sexual Abuse" taught me so much about how I was feeling, it took a fair bit of the shame away as well and Mike Lews "Victims No Longer".
