Our bill to change the Statute of Limitations on SA passed the Senate 41-25. The Senate bill is super for victims of sexual abuse. The bill is super simple. A victim has 6 years from the time he puts the cause and effects together. That means that there is no age limit on suing. Every one here at Male Survivors could sue our perp no matter when we where abused. The clock doesnt start until we begin our healing. When 2+2=4, when we begin too fully understand the evil and its effect abound us. We can have 4 or 5 of healing before we even have to begin thinking about suing our perp in civil court.

Thats the good news the bad news is that the bill in the House is totally different and our sponsor isnt too much behind us. I am not too happy about this but maybe the Senate language can be put into the House bill. It is all coming down to this last 9 days.

As to the apparent setback of sorts, I am sending prayers, focused meditation, channeled energy & whatever else may be needed.

I came across this recently about MN Rep. Arlon Lindner one of the votes you will surely not get in the House. The picture of him says it all.

St. Paul, Minn. Last month, Rep. Lindner said on the House floor that he questioned to what extent the Nazis persecuted homosexuals during World War II. The Corcoran Republican is sponsoring a bill that would remove civil rights protections for gays and lesbians. He said his bill would help prevent the spread of AIDS, and keep the U.S. from becoming, in his words, "another African continent."

It raises the image of all of the control that some people seek over others - as I grew up it was always a frightening thought for me because I felt helpless in the face of it without having good boundaries to protect me
 
Arlon Lindner, is a big'ol queen. Other wise he wouldn't bother putting so much time and engerny into hating homosexuals.

Brian-z, you just made me laugh. I have to say I thought the same thing!

I feel like crap today and I just want to reach out a little. That laugh helped take the sting out of a horrid man.

Thanks for the laugh. This guy will enjoy some bad karma. I just get the feeling, don't you?

urg. :mad: Ok, I'm not shure when this guy said what he said, but urg. :mad: Ok, now I'm down to one sylables :p I can't beleive. I mean freedom of speech is...different for leaders on a public forom...I'm not going to win this. Bye. :confused:
 
Thad beleive it or not he supports our bill. I got in a dissusion about the fact this isn't a guy issue that it is a POWER issue. He didn't like hearing me say that. It's the truth it's a power that drives the perps.
Just got back from two days in the city. They are playing big games at the Capital and the House leadership is tring to send the bill to rules committee which could kill it. O well thats Games IN POWER 101,kill it before it can be debated.
I got to write 1 more letter that will make them understand. The RIGHT to SEEK JUSTICE, must be protected for all victims
 
Muldoon if ever there was a sponsor in the pack for me you are it(asi in AA). You are an inspiration to me to continue the fight. I will never forget how you got me off my ass and working at it. I am so terribly proud of your accomplishment

Keep at it my friend, here, or there in the US the fight is just as important.

What happens in the US usually filters through to here some time after.
