What's the best / most memorable / most meaningful advice you've been given about CSA / ASA recovery?

i wish someone would've told me this when i first started dealing with my issues. i ended up learning to hard way from having a mini-meltdown... buuuuuuuut....

take it one issue at a time, one step at a time.

A wise woman I know said share when you are comfortable. She said you will know when you feel this way and sharing your story will be your story. Do not let others tell you what your story is or should be. You lived it, you own it and only you have the right to share it with others. She said be with people who can be with you and support you.

She would say when I would say it is my story and others tell it and omit the truth and facts. She would say they run from the truth to protect themselves from their truths. You need not let people push you down because they cannot accept the truth and one day their world will crumble because lies ultimately destroy. She would then ask me, did the truth you denied nearly destroy you? Yes I would say.

Pretty basic. I think about the words often and realize having the support and love around you is so important in healing as is accepting the abuse and the damage done.
