As of this week, I have begun a program at my support group organization that deals specifically with people who have been abused. The abuse is not necessarily sexual abuse for everyone involved. It can entail physical, spiritual or emotional abuse as well. There are ten of us: four men, four women and two female facilitators. We began last Saturday getting to know each other for a few hours through various exercises. Our second time of meeting was spent in a trust-building exercise. We plan to meet together 3-4 times a month for the next six months. The time will be spent probing into the deeper issues to reach some type of resolution with these issues.

I would like to keep all of you in tune on this so you can get feedback and decide if this is something that may be helpful to you, assuming such a resource is available.

FT - I hope this works well for everyone involved. I think it's a good thing that the group includes people that have been abused in a range of ways (although I don't think it's good that anyone has been abused). I hope you can all find mutual support, comfort and strength from each other.

I wish that there was somewhere locally that I could go and talk to other people. My friends are good and really try their best to support me - we all realise that they can never fully understand the real impact like another survivor can.

Again - best wishes with this positive step...Rik
