I was'nt having a good day yesterday to begin with. Then I made the mistake of watching the movie Mysterious Skin. It made it even worse. It is probably a good movie , just was'nt the right time to watch. I'm new here and I was molested by my uncle between the ages of 6-10. Don't want to give details just yet still getting used to this. Just wanted to post my feelings. thanks.

Jerry,

First let me say welcome our little refuge on the www. Glad you found us, and so sorry that you needed to come here in the first place. This is a place where the people that come here know what you are going through because we've been there too. We understand all to well the emotional pain, the isolation, the loneliness that survivors of childhood sexual abuse experience.
One of the most healing things about this place is when you can talk about what happened to you and be believed. By talking about things we can get it out on the table and see it for what it really is. We can begin to heal from the terrible hurt.

Please feel free to do things here as you become comfortable. Post when you wish. Lurk in the corners if you wish and just read. It is your recovery, and you need to be able to do it at a pace you are comfortable with.

I wish you peace.

Lots of love,

John

Jerry,

Welcome. One thing I find so reassuring about this place is the constant reminder that I am not the only on to go through being abused. You have provided that for me with your post. I was also abused by an uncle for a number of years. As much as I do not wish this on anyone, it does help to know there are others out there. Share as you are able, it will help.

For me, the movie "Mysterious Skin" is a number 10 on the trigger scale. I'm a lot like Brian, but Neil's rape scene is too intense and real for me. It's like watching myself.

Jerry,

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have heard it's enormously triggering, along the lines Steve-o suggests.

Welcome to MS and I hope you find it useful. There's no hurry to tell your story or reveal information until you are ready. Set your own pace.

Much love,
Larry
