Maybe I am wrong, but as a kid, I knew where all the perps lived.
As an adult, I can perceive who might be, but dont have the intelligence of the kid I was back then.

What I mean there, is, I dont know if this person is perceived by the kids as a pervert.

I keep hearing, Oh!, he seemed like such a nice guy with a lovely family/smile.
I think it means that either, abusers come from low life backgrounds to people you would knowingly have trusted.

Yeah, I dont know whether this thread makes sense, but guess I just want to know why kids did not tell on them.

I would never have done as an abused kid, but why did kids just go there?

It amazed me after I revealed my abuse how many people, including my parents and sisters, said oh yeah we always knew that family was weird!

Well why the FS didn't they protect me?!

It's a sad reflection on the effects of the abuse but I'm probably over protective with my kids now.

Most abusers from my experience are nice, approachable and appear to be trustworthy around adults but you would not an out an out lunatic be in charge of a boy scout troop now would you???

Very fewabusers are of the streotypical dirty old man type although Ido know one who is RobRandall, the nice guy approach is much more reliable in grooming the kids and in some cases parents.

I was surprised, too, when I told my parents a few years ago about my first abuse when I was 5 with a babysitter. They said, "Oh yeah. We remember and know who that was. We're not surprised." Why wasn't anything\ done?????

I believe that if the scenario were to be reversed ie: So and so was the highlight and drive behind my childhood you would receive a similar answer of "how good" they thought the person was.

I think that oftentimes people are too fast to agree when they aren't very certain about a person.

Your thread makes complete sense to me. It is a myth that we will become abusive as our perps did. there is a post on that in the MS documentaries. Perps are very slick and managed to prevent us from speaking out while the abuse was happening. Kids don't know to look out for manipulative people. We didn't know the truth at that time but now we do. That's why were here. Now, there are people like us that will stand up for those kids. It's not so easy for perps to slip one by us now. However, we don't want to jump the gun. We still know who the perps are. Now its up to us to trust our instincts and go about this the best way we know how without being viewed as being unjust. Perps are devious but I believe we as CSA survivors can smell them from a mile away. I could be wrong, but, that is my own personal testimony. I'm always watching and I will speak out when I feel it is right. I would venture to say that I am not alone on this one.

As for why kids don't tell - because we feel so bloody stupid and frightened!

As for why governments / judiciary / church etc..etc.. treat it so lightly???? Abusers in high places???

Sometimes, I wish that I had said nothing and just delivered my own justice! Who would have known that I had a grudge?
 
Rick, I cannot for the life of me think how he still lives in the same area.

Us scousers would put it this way, I would go into the shop and say outloud, what are you doing breathing the same air as normal people?
Then call him a f*cking pervert and walk out.

Best to do it in the betting shop or pub, then change the wording to kiddy fiddler.

I just dont understand your case, it is totally mind boggling,

Ste - eveyone does know what he is! He's had paint thrown over his door, and is less visible locally than he was!

People are watching him locally, including myself!

There is a small roundabout near the betting shop, that I must drive around on my way home from work / other local towns. The other day, I was approaching the roundabout and spotted a young boy, about 15 outside the betting shop, obviously waiting around for some reason! This triggered my alarm system. I drove past the betting shop, and pulled into a small car park, where I could see the betting shop. I pretended to read a magazine that I had in my car. The boy eventually realised that I was monitoring the locallity, and kept shouting through the door of the betting shop. The boy eventually walked off, looking back at myself and the betting shop. I didn't go in to see if the perv was in there! I have a camera on my phone, and don't want to give him any warning that I am watching him. I believe that one day I will catch him out and get a photograph of him talking to some kid! He is barred from talking to, or approaching anyone under 16.

My case is not that mind boggling, when we have a Police Chief in Wales that thinks it is OK for 20 year old to have sex with 13 year olds (initial statement actaully said 30 year olds, but retracted it). That same senior policeman is also a representative of other senior police officers, and supposedly a child protection officer. He also believes that child pornography is only pornography when the child is under 13 years old.

There was slight condemnation of this 'idiot/official pervert' in the media, but the silence from MPs / Judiciary and fellow members of the police force was deafening!

I sent several e-mails off to the media - the only real attack that I read in the media was by A****** in The Daily Mail - I thanked her for here comments related to this instance, and also fed her some further information on cases that I was aware of and the long-term impact. I received a decent personal response!
