Brothers,

I am sure this is a stupied question but has anyone written a book? I do think that I would like to read more books from survivors cause we all seem to think a like.

lots of love, Nathan

MY fellow wolf brother Nathan;

Me write a book. My god I can hardly type. But if I did it would be about heroes and kindness and honesty and honour. All things nice.

Nathan we have been in a very sick place that nobody should have to venture into. I read some books to try and help myself but I also read books for the sheer enjoyment of being a kid.

I recently reread The Lord of the Rings and am reading The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. All about good and evil and the triumph of good. I guess it is because I love a good story. But when I read some of these books I gain real insight into my situation and it really registers. Like it comes from out of the blue just like some posts here at MSORG. Left field can be a very fertile place.
I like books on Brothers and how they lived and helped one another. That has helped me here with my fellow brother wolves.

I even read the Burgess Bedtime Stories. About Peter Cottontail, Jimmy Fox, Paddy the Beaver, Sammy Jay and all the rest. Really allows me to be a kid again.

Just some random thoughts prompted by your post.

Take care brother Wolf

Mike

AAAAAAAAAWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Affirmative. I am the author of The Gajo Boy and the Duende. My literary agent is Joesph McClure of the Cheshire Literary Agency in NJ. I am currently working on what seems like the 50th re-write. The last couple of years I have not been able to work on it at the pace I would like. But...one day. Peace, Andrew

I have an idea for a book and have written some but it hasn't gotten past my computer.

Andrew, tell me more about the process. A literary agent(?). Do you type in all the same font or do you try to design the pages the way you want them to look?

Your first step is to write a rough (first draft) manuscript. 12 point Roman font is fine. Make sure your spelling and punctuation are ok, then find yourself an agent. That is the tough part. Without an agent you have almost no chance of being published. Even with an agent, it is tough. Good luck and keep writing. Peace, Andrew

Andrew
can you enlighten us some more ?

Dave

i know this is an old post, but i am finally venturing around the forum...

i think a book of survivors stories by survivors would be a vrey good idea...there is no reason a group of people could not work together to put something like that in order...even if only for the web...if only for a sublink somewhere on mrorg to say: here are our stories...

when i was a child, growing up, i had only women's stories to relate to and it wrecked havoc on my perception of my sexual orientation throughout my teen years...and of course it kept me from speaking up and out...if i had a resource such as stories by male survivors, i might have been less inclined to hide myself because i would have realized i was not alone...

i have seen some sites try to do this, but without much organization...msorg seems a well-supported group and could pull something like this off...

Godsrabbit,

First, let me say I'm happy that you are sticking around and posting. :)

even if only for the web...if only for a sublink somewhere on mrorg to say: here are our stories...
There is a Survivor Stories forum here, which is something like the web idea you suggested. I've posted there, and I've thought about adding more detail there.

I can tell you that for me, it was a tough decision to post the story. I made and unmade that decision, oh, it seems about a thousand times before I did post it. ("On the verge of indecision, I'll always take the round about way." From Misplaced Childhood, by Marillion)

Thanks,

Joe

joe,

i completely understand...i guess, to clarify what i am talking about...perhaps you can look at some online writing sites...fray.com comes to mind first...it is something less of a post and run sort of thing and more of an online ('zine) sounds cheap...i am thinking more along the lines of living art: something that is structured and possibly illustrated, and more presentation (an online publication)...those who write their stories would do so on a voluntary basis...they would be edited for basic grammar and spelling, etc., and compiled as if in an anthology...

it is just an idea...i realize it would actually take some work, but i think two or three people saavy with .html could put something nice and simple together (5-10 pages) that would be like a snapshot album of surviving...

we all need stories to relate to and stories of hope...

i realize everyone is too busy...but it seems like something we could consider...no?

and bless you...thank you for your encouragement...

Rabbit:

I'm slowly working on a book--or two or three.

Meanwhile here are some stories about male survivors by male survivors (yes all available thru MS bookstore):

Men Surviving Incest: A Male Survivor Shares the Process of Recovery by T. Thomas

Rescuing Little Roundhead by Syl Jones

Speaking Our Truth: Voices of Courage and Healing for Male Survivors of Chilhood Sexual Abuse
by Neal King

Leaping upon the Mountains : Men Proclaiming Victory over Sexual Child Abuse by Mike Lew

Hope that helps.

Victor

I know this thread is old but I'll reply anyway. I started a journal last october when I finally decided I wanted to get my life together. I started confronting all of my fears and all of my issues until finally BAM I was face to face with my sexual abuse. It's a lot of ramblings and trying to "figure things out"... but it could be interesting.... haha :)
