Anxiety about biopsy

Anxiety about biopsy
Has anyone here had a liver biopsy before, my doctor is leaning towards it because my liver ensyemes are high. Reading about it on the internet, it appears to be a pretty invasive procedure.

Can anyone give me any idea about it?

I had a superficial biopsy on my thigh

a birth mark - a rather large one they were afraid would turn cancerous - so they said

better just remove it as a profilactic thing

and biopsy -

i will not mince words - I was young and it was in a tight skinned area -

it was SORE for a good 2 months afterwards -

and the procedure though - dosed with a lot of pain killing shots did hurt - but

i talked to the doctor through it - and it made it ok - at least more ok - and we
tried to make it light hearted -

but it was scary - but you can do this -

when I was going through the last years of my
time in LA - there was super stress and
my liver was acting up lots -

when i quit work - and did some healthful things

therapy 5 times a week -

it got normal again -

so - perhaps that is something to think on

think about maybe reducing stress -

and as femme bot as this can sound it is so
helpful -

start treating yourself to special good things

little things -

a trip to the manicurist -

a shirt just for being you -

nothing crazy - but i finally started saying it's ok to be good to me -

my doctor's prescription -

it worked!

peace to you jt - little things give back - and big things -

peace-

mark

you deserve it!

and truth be told - no one else can do this for you- !

it does feel odd at first - but as you learn past the awkward feelings -

you will see the logic it makes in self management-

a massage when life just gets too much -

if you can swing it - it is better than booze

and a different kind of therapy!

self management - to your health and peace!

take the reigns!!

you are the commander!
:)

have you thought too to get a second opinion?

I would not want internal work like this

done unless absolutely necessary -

take it easy - sounds unnerving -

JTT, I don't know anything about biopsies but it sounded scary and I just wanted to wish you well. i hope things work out ok. And I second Mark's advice on being good to yourself and treating yourself to a little something now and then. I started getting a 1/2 hr massage once a week. Now I do not wake up with all the regular aches and pains everyday (I wish I could have a nice, relaxing panic attack just once). To make up for the cost of the massage, I made myself reduce the booze the same amount to pay for it. goals and rewards my friend.

As a Survivor with extremely low self esteem, I found that I had no problem spending and doing to make life nice for others, my wife, parents, friends. But had a really hard time justifying anything for myself. You are worth it! go buy youself an icecream cone. haha

I've had lots of biopsy's done (muscle and lipoma) - but not a liver biopsy - biopsy is not something that should be rushed into - a second opinion is a good thing before any invasive proceedure - look for options other than a biopsy - biopsy's should only be a last resort kind of thing.

keep us updated...

Wishing you the best,

TJ jeff

jtt,

I'm sorry I don't have anything to add, really, but my good wishes for a favorable outcome.
Know that we're here, to be there, for you.

All the best,

Courage and strength,

David

JTT,

I would just raise your concerns directly with your doctor. You do have a right to be worried and to ask for more information.

Hope this all goes well,
Larry
