I know the following is a small thing, but to me it's pretty big. When I was young, chronic ear infections left untreated due to neglect caused severe hearing loss in left ear, and moderate loss in the right. I've always had self-esteem issues due to the physical and sexual abuse as a child, plus not being able to hear half of what was going on around me.

A couple of weeks ago, I went and had an exam done for a hearing aid and I picked it up today. WOW! I CAN HEAR! Did you HEAR what I just said? I CAN HEAR!!! I can hear the clickety-clack of this keyboard as I type this, something I've never heard before. I can hear the refridgerator running in the kitchen.

Like I said, I know it's a small thing, but I think this is one more thing to help me start feeling better about myself, and after the last weeks from finally breaking the secrecy of all this, I need some forward steps.

Again...did you HEAR what I just said? I CAN HEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eddie!

That's super! We take a lot for granted and hearing is one of those things. I'm happy for you, man. Listen to everything!!

I remember getting glasses in the 6th grade at school, I thought everyone saw like I did. I must have spent days looking at things. Everything was so clear and focused.

It is not a small thing, it is a huge thing. You have rediscovered a lost sense. It is like a blind person being able to see again. It is a very big thing. I am sure it would help you to feel safer again also, to be able to hear more what is going on around you. I am happy for you.

Eddie.
what a gift, our senses are something we take for granted when we have them all.

I appreciate the value of hearing, I spend a lot of time shouting down the phone at my elderly parents, and they get more frustrated than I do about it.
And the guy I work with is deaf in one ear, the one alongside me as we're sat in the noisy van, so I shout at him as well, then my wife has tinitus, so sometimes I shout at her.

Enjoy the sounds Eddie.

I'm happy for you Eddie. It is great you can hear again, it is a very important sense, and now having in back is great. Congratulations, and listen to everything you can, isn't it great to hear?
